For an added bonus, plan your holiday around one of our amazing festivals
JANUARY: Australia Day MUD Crab Races
Celebrate Australia Day (Jan 26) with the madcap mayhem of mud crab races at the Agnes Water Tavern. The action starts from 2.30pm when you have the chance to purchase (and name) your very own racing crab. Cash prizes and live entertainment make this a fun family event not to be missed, and moneys raised support local community clubs.
FEBRUARY: Agnes Blues, Roots and Rock Festival
The Agnes Blues, Roots & Rock Festival is held annually across one weekend in February. Live music, licensed bar, food vendors and markets ensure there is something for everyone. Large marquees ensure you can dance all weekend, regardless of the weather!
MAY: 1770 Festival
Held annually in May, the 1770 Captain Cook Festival commemorates the visit of the HMB Endeavour and the landing of Lt. James Cook and his party on May 24 1770 in Bustard Bay. This was the first landing for Cook and his crew in what is now known as Queensland, and only the second landing in Australia (the first being Botany Bay). Come and celebrate the meeting of two cultures with a landing re-enactment (with locals in period costumes) and dream-time stories from the Gooreng Gooreng people.
MAY: 1770 Art Show
The 1770 Art Show has grown from a humble art exhibition in a small marquee at the 1770 Festival in 2003, to an important event in the art community, receiving entries from Brisbane to Townsville and out past Blackwater. Coinciding with the 1770 Festival, the 1770 Art Show is held every May in the Agnes Water Community Centre.

Come and learn about our local First Nations culture at this free and inclusive festival held on the SES grounds each October. With live music, art, dance and plenty of food, there is something for everyone here.
